Three mediocre lunches priced out at $35. Our third guest ordered a salmon teriaki and did not enjoy it. My colleague ordered a soba (soup and noodle) dish and enjoyed it. I ordered a pork katsu bento box, but the box only had four compartments so the variety of flavors was a bit spartan. The food, when it came, wasn't bad but it was below the standard of most of the Japanese restaurants I have visited. They slammed some menus in front of us, asked us if we were ready to order, and disappeared when we wanted to take some time to read about our choices. The staff was huddled in a corner and were annoyed with us when we interrupted their (obviously endless) rest break. There are perhaps 15 tables or so all cubicles lined up around the perimeter and one row down the middle. The room was dark all the daylight was blocked by wood or paint on the windows. It's always a bad sign when you walk into a restaurant at lunchtime and the place is empty. I was truly tickled to get a chance to pop through the door. Finding a sushi restaurant in the restaurant wasteland of Southington was like finding an oasis in the desert. I love discovering a new restaurant, especially any Asia food. You can have the most beautiful decor and the nicest servers, but if the food is under par, you won't see me again. I am not saying I have never had all of the above at once, but in the grand scheme of things, just give me good, healthy, food that warms my soul. great ambiance, wonderful service, fantastic food.and inexpensive. That is okay too, as I am usually busy looking down at my plate anyway :). I have been there quite a few times with relatives and friends and would go again. The difference between this place and a couple of other all you can eat sushi restaraunts(excluding buffets)is that when you order an item, it is full size, I have learned to get my money's worth without overeating, but still being fully satisfied. I don't care which one I get, as long as they bring me what I have ordered. Not here! There is one server who is friendly and one who is not very smiley. In some restaurants, servers go overboard with their feigned niceness. For good food, I can wait a couple of minutes for it to arrive (this is not fast food!)and can do without the chit chat. There are usually only one or two servers and if it's busy, they run their socks off! Good service is nice, and it compliments the meal, but it is not mandatory for me. sushi chefs have years of experience has I have had rolls fall apart, but what should you expect for under $20, in an all you can eat restaurant. I like the sashimi best as I enjoy tasting the fish without the rice. Tokyo sushi seems to have fresh fish every time I have gone there. Finishing what I have ordered is my game. I know that the restaurant had gone through a change in ownership during the pandemic, but things have really changed for the worse. To add injury to insult, we were hoping to finish off what was to be our last trip here with a green tea ice cream, and it tasted like it was pistachio ice cream. When we sent in our second menu, the server came back and told us we're not getting another menu so to order as much as you can. Yes, that is correct, you can't order more than 2 times. For us who are big into the raw sashimi and don't care much for rolls, this was crushing.Ģ. There is now a limit on the number of sashimi you can order. Two major flaws that attributed to our less than satisfactory experience, something I have never felt once in the 6 years I've been coming here:ġ. We used to love everything about this place, but now they have restrictions that defeat the purpose of an all you can eat. My wife and I came here yesterday after not having gone for a few months. I can't even begin to explain how disappointed I am with this place, and it also pains me to be even writing this review considering I have been a regular here for years, my group of friends I frequent with have been coming here for longer much longer.
